Berlin-based music technology innovators Bitwig return to Kilele with a dynamic, future-facing workshop that bridges sound, data and visual intelligence.
Known globally for developing Bitwig Studio, a platform embraced by producers, film composers, sound designers and experimental artists, the company continues its mission of building tools that challenge conventional production workflows. This marks Bitwig’s second appearance at Kilele, and the 2026 edition promises a deeper dive into exploratory creation. The Bitwig workshops will be divided into two sessions:
Session 1: Bitwig Studio Workshop: Zero To First Beats In Two Hours (1:00pm - 3:00pm)
Certified trainer Hendrik Sam will open the session with an accessible but high-energy introduction to the software, unpacking its modular architecture, creative routing possibilities, and performance flexibility.
Session 2: Bitwig + Touch Designer Integration Workshop -Bitwig Studio: Generative Music and Visuals with TouchDesigner (3:00pm- 5:00pm)
Building on the foundational introduction, Kevin Karanja shifts the focus toward a more experimental application of Bitwig Studio in dialogue with TouchDesigner.
In this advanced segment, Karanja examines how visual systems can move beyond reactive accompaniment to become structural engines within composition itself. Rather than simply responding to audio, visual data and coded processes will be positioned as generative forces, shaping tempo, triggering sequences, altering texture and influencing arrangement in real time.

Through hands-on exploration, participants will engage with:
-
Experimental and non-linear sequencing approaches
-
Generative and algorithmic composition systems
-
Visual signals as compositional control data
-
Code-driven modulation and structural transformation
The session reframes music-making as a dynamic ecosystem, where sound, image and system architecture function as co-authors. By interrogating the boundaries between media, participants will explore alternative workflows that prioritise process, interaction and emergent structure over fixed arrangement.
