Kilele Summit 2026: Community as Practice, Sound as Solidarity
Kilele Summit 2026: Community as Practice, Sound as Solidarity

Kilele Summit 2026 officially opened on 23rd February with powerful speeches reminding us that community is an active practice, one rooted in sharing love and knowledge.

The opening ceremony featured mokeyanju’s expansive vinyl set and a moving performance by Labdi & Ogoya Nengo, bridging tradition and modernity in one shared sonic space.

Since then, the summit has unfolded through dynamic panels, workshops, and performances. Highlights include “Sounds In The City, conversations with Black Obsidian Sound System (UK), artist residency discussions with Vallerie Muthoni, and hands-on sessions in Bitwig and Ableton. Sonic Commons’ installation at Munyu transformed listening into a collective experience, while evening showcases from Lilywhite, Basthma, selo, and others brought experimental energy to the dancefloor.

With the Zahabu Showcase and the official Kilele Showcase happening Friday and Saturday, we are excited to put our fun hats on. Artists including Sisso & Maiko, mau from nowhere, MC Yallah, and Pwani Tapes will take over the Zahabu lower rooftop for two unforgettable nights.
