See Your Sound: How Do You Connect Your Senses?

See Your Sound: How Do You Connect Your Senses?

This appearance focuses on the marrying of audio storytelling and visual storytelling.

Both Kuza and Kilele hold Ubuntu to a high regard; We believe the collaboration of different peoples and mediums is the key to our flourishing, both individually and as a collective.

With See Your Sound, we intend to bring together music artists as well as music video directors, to illuminate the process of translating one form of art into another. A music video can greatly elevate the sonic experience. We want to know how you, as a music video director, work with the artist to best supplement their art. And we want to know how you, the artist, participate in the creation of your music videos.

We also would like to know of any challenges faced during this process, whether it’s finding someone who aligns with you, or anything of the sort. It would also be nice to hear what you wish it was more like when it comes to the production of visualizers or music videos.

Beyond the panel talk, we will have a short screening, as well as a mini storyboarding session, where a member of Kuza (Narotso) will guide the attendees on creating mini storyboards to their favorite tracks. This exercise is intended to encourage artists to think of any body of work as multidimensional; to see that you can have many kinds of artists bring out different sides of the same body of work.
