From Studio to Story

From Studio to Story: Album-making in the African Music Industry
In today’s music industry, making an album is no longer just about just recording songs but shaping a clear artistic vision and translating it into a compelling, public-facing project. An album must live beyond the studio, existing as a coherent body of work with creative, visual and narrative assets that speak to fans, media, collaborators and wider audiences beyond the release period. From songwriting and production choices to branding, messaging and promotion, artists are required to think holistically about the longevity of their music - how it is experienced, understood and remembered. This workshop, “Album-Making In The African Music Industry” focuses on the creative and strategic journey of building an album as a cultural product; from concept to release, while grounding the process in collaboration, intentional storytelling and long-term career thinking. The session centers on creative development, professional standards, artist identity and strategic visibility.
