Hailing from Tandale and Manzese in Dar es Salaam, Sisso & Maiko are key architects of Singeli’s blistering, hyperlocal sound. Their productions transform the chaos and resilience of life on the city’s fringes into fast, pitched-up rhythms charged with raw energy.

Built on frantic loops and breathless tempos, their music creates a suspended, gliding tension, recalling mid-’90s UK happy hardcore, Chicago footwork, Caribbean Soca, and Shangaan disco, yet unmistakably Singeli.
