Furaha Ruguru is an award-winning Kenyan music journalist, event host and DJ entranced by African culture. Based between the electric Nairobi and serene Kilifi, she has spent 7+ years documenting the music scene through her platform LaMusicJunkie — from covering East Africa’s biggest festivals to interviewing alternative African artists. She's currently on a quest to discover, preserve and share Africa’s rich musical heritage through playlists, articles and events. Because you need to know where you’re coming from to know where you're going. When she's not busy reading Shades of Benga, she's visiting various African communities to learn about their indigenous music and culture.
