Bizi Bingi

Bizi Bingi (Bethuel Muthee) is a Nairobi based poet and deejay. He is the host of The Clearing, a radio show on calotropis.xyz that broadcasts live from The Mist. He has curated exhibitions as part of the now-defunct collective Naijographia (with Jepkorir Rose and Mbuthia Maina). His poems and essays have been published in Kwani?, Johannesburg Review of Books, Down River Road, Transnational Literature, and Jalada Review.

The Clearing started as a reading series at the end of 2019 inspired by The Sermon on The Clearing by Baby Suggs in Toni Morrison's Beloved. It was revived as a broader gathering taking the form of a nautonomat- a spaceship of the imagination- bringing together music, reading, performance, and a sense of community.
